Protecting Our Paradise: Miss Bahamas Teen Takes on International Coastal Cleanup Day

While many were sleeping in on Saturday morning, the Miss Bahamas Teen team and our reigning queen, Chloe Walters, were on the front lines of environmental conservation. In honor of International Coastal Cleanup Day, Chloe joined hundreds of volunteers across the archipelago to help preserve the natural beauty of our shores.

Clad in the MBT service gear and armed with gloves and biodegradable bags, Chloe spent the morning at the beach, documenting and removing debris. This effort was part of a global movement—the 40th Annual ICC Day—which tracks the types of trash found to help create long-term solutions for ocean pollution.

Why This Matters to Us:

  • Platform in Action: Environmental protection is a key pillar of the MBT mission. As Chloe noted in her post, “We cannot represent a beautiful country if we do not take care of the environment that makes it beautiful.”

  • Data-Driven Service: Our team didn’t just pick up trash; they acted as “citizen scientists,” recording every item collected to be submitted to the Ocean Conservancy’s global database.

  • Youth Leadership: By participating, the MBT organization aims to inspire other young Bahamians to take ownership of our natural resources.

A Quote from the Shore: “It’s not just about today; it’s about ensuring that the generations of teens who come after us can enjoy the same crystal-clear waters we have today,” Chloe shared via a live update during the cleanup.

The Miss Bahamas Teen Organization would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism and all the local civic groups for organizing such a vital initiative. Let’s keep our islands clean, green, and pristine!
